Freedom of Information Coordinator
Kwantlen Student Association (KSA)
12666 72 avenue

To whom it may concern:
Under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), please provide me with:
• All records of expenses made by the Kwantlen Student Association that fall outside standard operating costs — including but not limited to travel unrelated to direct student services, honorariums or gifts, non-essential event costs, and discretionary consulting or legal fees — between January 1, 2023 and June 1, 2025.
I have enclosed the $10 application fee in the form of a cheque.
If there are problems releasing some portions of the documents requested, please do not withhold release of all the documents, but instead forward those you can release.
To avoid photocopying fees, you may provide me these records in PDF format — either via email or on USB.
If you have any concerns, please email me at jennifer.mathies@student.kpu.ca
Please advise me when the material is available for release.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Mathies
Reason for this request:
This request is to help make sure the KSA is being open and honest about how it spends student money. I want to see if any money has been used for things that aren’t part of regular day-to-day operations, like travel, gifts, or outside consultants. Student governments in other parts of Canada have been questioned about spending money on things that didn’t clearly help students. This request is part of a larger effort to see how the KSA uses its funds. It could help students and others see what the KSA’s priorities are and if the money is being handled responsibly.
